Hundreds of Pima Animal Care Center shelter animals have clean and soft towels to sleep on thanks to generous support for PACC’s campaign to fund a new industrial washer and dryer. PACC raised $8,770 in contributions from members of the community and with Pima County Supervisor Sharon Bronson’s $7,500 match from her District 3 budget, the campaign brought in $16,270, surpassing its $15,000 goal.

The new washer has increased laundry capacity from 15 loads to 30 loads per day. It uses Inverter Direct Drive technology, a motor that is directly attached to the drum without using a belt or pulley. Less mechanical parts mean less energy dissipation which enhances washing performance, ensures minimal noise and vibration and more durability and energy savings. The sump-less outer tub design saves 15 percent more water on every cycle. The photos below show the PACC laundry room before and after the arrival of the new washer and dryer.
