  • Pima Animal Care Center hosting online auction

    Pima Animal Care Center is hosting an online community art auction July 17 to July 28 to raise money for animal medical needs at the PACC shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

    animal artistsThe Bow Wow Meow Community Art Auction features nearly 100 pieces of artwork created by local artists, said Karen Hollish, PACC development director.

    “The Tucson area is well-known as an artist’s community, and we are so grateful to the many excellent local artists who have donated work for the auction,” Hollish said. “And because the auction is online, you can participate in your P.J.s at home!”

    Starting bids are between $15 and $50, and the donated artwork includes Native American art and pottery, pet gift baskets, jewelry, Mexican folk art, photography and quilts. Artists Leslie Hawes, Michael Kloth, Dean Knuth, Peter Olivas and Lillian George are among the many artists who have donated work for the auction.

    Bidding begins at that site on July 17 at 8 a.m. Mountain Standard Time and ends July 28 at 11:45 p.m. (MST). All proceeds will benefit PACC’s Medical Fund, which helps the shelter purchase lifesaving supplies like pain medications, antibiotics and bandages to save sick and injured pets.
