chihuahuaOver National Adoption Weekend on Sept. 11-13, Pima Animal Care Center will be offering $20 pet adoptions at three PetSmart locations to celebrate the launch of a robust off-site adoption program funded by a $106,315 grant from PetSmart Charities.

The grant is allowing PACC to expand its presence in the Tucson area’s PetSmart stores. In addition to essential supplies like crates, leashes and carriers, the grant is funding the entire annual cost of one full-time Off-site Adoptions Coordinator. Once the program is fully up and running, this staffer will be tasked with achieving 2,500 more PACC pet adoptions from the area’s PetSmart stores over the next year.

“It’s a big goal, but with our community’s help – and PetSmart Charities’ very generous support – we can meet it,” PACC’s Chief of Operations, Kristin Barney, said. “By taking our pets to PetSmart customers, this program is going to help PACC save so many lives.”

In conjunction with PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Weekend on Sept. 11 - 13, PACC will be offering $20 adoptions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following PetSmart stores:

    • PetSmart at Oracle and Wetmore (cats, dogs, puppies and kittens)
    • PetSmart at Grant and Swan (cats, dogs, puppies and kittens)
    • PetSmart at El Con Mall (cats and kittens)

The $20 fee is all-inclusive: It covers each pet’s spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, a free vet visit and the annual licensing fee for adult dogs. Learn more at www.pima.gov/animalcare.
