Thinking about adopting a pet?Monsoon Muttness

Starting Saturday, May 18, our adoption fee will run $12 for the remainder of the fiscal year as Pima Animal Care Center sets a goal of saving at least 12,000 pets this year.

The $12-for-12,000 campaign will launch for Monsoon Muttness, our big annual adoption fest, at our adoption center at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

The special will run through midnight June 30.

So far this fiscal year, more than 10,053 animals have found homes or were rescued by local rescue organizations.

The event also comes at a critical time. With puppy and kitten season here, we expect more animals will need shelter while they wait for placement.

When you adopt, you don’t just save a single life. Every time an animal goes home, that means more space and resources are freed up for another animal.

And it’s a great deal, since the adoption fee includes a microchip and vaccinations.

“I know that with the community’s help, we can meet our goal,” said Kim Janes, Manager of Pima Animal Care Center. “If you’ve been thinking about adding a pet to your family, now’s a great time to do it. We take good care of our animals, but nothing can compare with seeing them leave for loving homes.”

Monsoon Muttness is also sure to be a lot of fun, with raffles, a silent auction and family activities. Come see if your new family member is waiting for you. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
