How to Apply

Complete the online application form and submit. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Students applying for an internship should apply at least one term (10-12 weeks) before they would like to begin their internship. Once we receive your application we will look for a possible placement that matches your skills and interests. All applicants will be contacted within 10-days of submitting an application and may also be asked for an interview.  Placement and selection of applicants are determined by availability of Health Department staff to oversee a volunteer or intern. Opportunities are unpaid and without financial compensation unless stated otherwise by the department.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for an internship with the Health Department, the applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
  1. Be a U.S. citizen
  2. Be over the age of 15
  3. Be a registered student receiving internship credit through a partnering college, university or educational institution
  4. Proof of course enrollment and degree requirement
Individuals seeking public health work experience who do not meet the above criteria are eligible to apply as a volunteer. Volunteers may conduct internship-level work, however, volunteers will not be considered for posted internship positions and priority will be given to students receiving internship credit through a partnering college, university or educational institution.
