  • Intersection improvements to start at Drexel/Benson Highway

    Beginning on Friday, November 9 motorists can expect delays in the area of Drexel Road and Benson Highway. 

    The Pima County Department of Transportation has begun construction of intersection improvements including the installation of indirect left-turn lanes at Drexel Road and Benson Highway. HAWK signal

    The project also includes installation of a pedestrian signal across Benson Highway along with sidewalks and ADA accessible curb ramps.

    A temporary closure on Drexel Road east of Earp Boulevard and west of Felix Boulevard will begin on Friday, Nov. 9 and remain in place until March 4, 2019. Local traffic will be detoured through the area during construction.

    Funding for this improvement project comes from the 1997 HURF Bonds and the Federal Highway Administration. The estimated project costs are $1.03 million. 

    Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Minor delays may occur during this work.
