The Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department’s (RWRD) contractor, KE&G Construction, Inc., has revised their work areas and rescheduled repairs to the sanitary sewer in downtown Tucson. Work will be conducted in various locations (described below), and all work will be performed at night.  Crews will begin their work at approximately 6 p.m., and conclude by 6 a.m. the next morning, excluding weekends.  Sewer pipes

The new schedule will begin on Monday, December 3, 2018, and conclude by Friday, January 18, 2019. Work will include sewer pipe repairs: some areas requiring excavation, some requiring sewer pipe lining, and some requiring both. In areas where excavation is required, plates and barricades will be in place when work crews are not on site, and until lining and paving operations begin.

We will need access to manholes in several downtown locations including:
    • 220 N. Meyer Avenue, excavation: Three-day duration (12/3/18-12/5/18); area will be plated and barricaded when workers are not on site. Lining and paving operations will follow.
    • 150 W. Pennington Street, excavation: Four-day duration (12/6/18-12/11/18 -- NO WORK DURING WEEKEND); area will be plated and barricaded when workers are not on site.  Lining and paving operations will follow.
    • 200 W. Alameda Street, excavation: Three-day duration (12/12/18-12/14/18); area will be plated and barricaded when workers are not on site.  Lining and paving operations will follow.
    • S. Railroad Avenue/E. 12th Street, excavation and lining: Two-day duration; areas will be plated/barricaded when workers are not on site.
    • 550 E. 4th Street, excavation and lining: Two-day duration; areas will be plated/barricaded when workers are not on site.
Work at the locations listed below involve cured-in-place pipe lining (CIPP) only.  Lining operations are scheduled from Wednesday, January 2, 2019, through Friday, January 18, 2019.   CIPP lining is a fairly quick process, and each lining will take approximately 12 hours to complete.  If a bypass is needed, it is set up the day prior to the CIPP lining work.
    • 702 E. Broadway Boulevard:  CIPP lining only
    • 41 E. Pennington Street: CIPP lining only
    • 45 W. Pennington Street: CIPP lining only
    • 200 N. Stone Avenue/10 W. Alameda Street:  CIPP lining only
    • 320 E. Toole Avenue: CIPP lining only
Please know that we will work diligently to complete these repairs as quickly as possible.  Construction times, however, are approximate and are subject to change in the event that unforeseen conditions cause delays or postponements. For more information, please see the RWRD website.
