Pima Animal Care Center has great respect for the educators in our community. PACC

So in honor of Back to School Month in August, our adoption center is offering a FREE adoption for any pet, of any age, for all teachers, professors, teaching assistants and tutors. Licensing fees, which are $15 annually for altered dogs, still apply.

For everyone else, including those looking for a good “the dog ate my homework” excuse, pet adoptions are $35, plus the price of a license. That fee not only includes spay/neuter surgery, if necessary, but shots and microchipping as well.

Puppies under the age of three months are $85.

Our adoption center has many, many pets to choose from, although our overcrowding crisis is beginning to taper off.

Pima Animal Care Center issued a call for assistance in mid-July when we faced a severe overcrowding problem, with more than 724 pets throughout the facility.

The community answered that call, adopting more than 1,150 animals in July alone, through the evening of July 31.

At the close of business July 31, our occupancy was down to 592 pets – 399 dogs and 193 cats.

That’s still too many, but the good news is that there’s a very good chance your next best friend might be looking for you.

We’re open noon-7 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekends.
