Our dogs and cats are busy catching up on their beauty sleep in preparation for their time in the spotlight now that Pima Animal Care Center has been named the October 2013 Journal Community Partner. none

The award will ensure more of our dogs and cats find new homes in the community, by helping spread the word about our adoption center at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

During October, folks can see Pima Animal Care Center featured on the outlets owned by Journal Broadcast Group, including television stations KGUN9 On Your Side and Tucson CW 58, as well as four radio stations: 94.9 MIXfm, 104.1 The Truth, 106.3 The GROOVE, and ESPN Tucson 1490am/104.9fm.

It’s the equivalent of a major-media campaign – with a value of about $100,000 – but it’s free.

"Many charity groups and nonprofit agencies in Southern Arizona have good news to share but no way to share it,” said Bobby Rich, Director of Community Partnerships for Journal Broadcast Group – Tucson. “They do great work around our community but it often goes unnoticed. It’s precisely why we established the Journal Community Partner Program.”

Pima Animal Care Center Manager Kim Janes said he is deeply grateful for the opportunity. “With nearly 24,000 animals coming in to our shelter last year alone, the majority of our funding goes directly to the care of those animals. This leaves no money for marketing or advertising of the shelter, so we are thrilled to be able to highlight some of the pets in search of loving homes.”
