The Regional Flood Control District (District) recently mapped the effects of a federal channelization project along the Santa Cruz River West Branch. As a result, a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) Case No. 19-09-0058P, which amends flood insurance rate maps, will soon become effective (November 18, 2019) and will remove area residents from FEMA special flood hazard area floodplains, thus eliminating the mandatory need for flood insurance. The boundaries of this revised map will be along the Santa Cruz River West Branch - just upstream of Valencia Road to just downstream of Los Reales Road. A map of the project boundaries can be found HERE. Approximately 50 parcels will be removed from SFHA Zone AE, one of the highest hazard floodplains that FEMA maps.

For more information, please call the District at 520-724-4600.
