  • SS6.12 Mt. Lemmon Sewer System

    Total Project Cost: $521,055
    Project Number:  CWW3MLS12
Funding Sources: 2004 Sewer Revenue Bonds
    Completion Date: April 2010
    Managing Dept.: Regional Wastewater Reclamation
    Project Map: GIS Map
The 2004 Sewer Revenue Bonds provided for improvements and expansion of the Mt. Lemmon Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF) and effluent disposal system in the area damaged in the Aspen Forest Fire of June/July 2003 in order to better serve the needs of the greater Summerhaven area, and to provide a source of reclaimed water for beneficial reuse such as fire protection and subsequent recharge. Due in large part to the down turn of the economy, redevelopment of the Summerhaven area after the fire has not materialized as expected. Therefore, the capacity is currently sufficient to meet the Mt. Lemmon requirements although wastewater needs of the area are constantly monitored. Engineering & Environmental Consultants, Inc. was retained to produce a Mt. Lemmon Watershed Study (2008) which provided several improvement and enhancement scenarios for future projects.

The design of a flow equalization tank at the facility to handle weekend high flows was begun. Approximately 320’ of new 8” sewer main was installed in Turkey Run Road as a joint improvement project with Pima County Department of Transportation. All sewer mains were cleaned and Closed Circuit Televised for condition assessment.
