Renovations to the Pima Animal Care Center were completed in January 2010. These renovations included a new kennel addition which was turned over for use at the end of September 2009. The new building addition has 30 state-of-the-art inside-outside kennels with suitable landscaping and walled court yards. Also included were immense improvements to the existing building geared towards better safety and improving the well being of the animals and staff, and visitor’s experience. A new cat adoption room and an improved adoption row were constructed with the goal of increasing pet adoptions.

With the construction being on time, and under budget, the County was able to acquire additional veterinary equipment not in the original project scope including a new veterinary digital x-ray machine, examination table, surgical light, ultraclave sterilizer, and additional animal cages.
