    Who is Forrest Rickard?

Forrest Rickard was a former Pima County Parks and Recreation Commissioner, and founding member of the Parklands Foundation. He was born in Douglas Arizona. His father and uncle operated small mines in the Swissheim Mountains north of Douglas. In 1953 his family moved to Tucson where he graduated from Tucson Senior High School and then from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering. Forrest and his wife Doris moved to Ajo so he could work for the Engineering Department of the New Cornelia Branch of Phelps Dodge Corporation. He was one of the incorporators and a life member of the Ajo Historical Society. He was the complier of the book: Exploring, Mining, Leaching, and Concentrating of Cooper Ores as related to the Development of Ajo (to mid-year 1942).
