Users of The Loop are asked to avoid the intersection of South Harrison Road at East Escalante Road, where work is underway to repair a damaged water main.

Tucson Water said this morning that a contractor working at the intersection damaged a 12-inch water main Wednesday evening resulting in an interruption of water service in the area. Tucson Water crews worked overnight to restore water service to approximately 1,200 customers affected by the outage.

Southbound Harrison Road is closed at Burnett Street, northbound Harrison Road is closed at Irvington Road, and westbound Escalante is closed at Harrison Road. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are asked to find alternate routes until repairs can be completed.

The boundary of the area affected by the outage is approximately the Pantano Wash on the north, East Irvington Road on the south, South Houghton Road to the east, and South Harrison Road to the west.

A temporary water line connection was to be made early today to reestablish water service into the area. The temporary connection was expected to be in service by 9 a.m.
