Work is beginning for a bridge across the Tucson Diversion Channel that will help complete the Julian Wash Greenway segment of The Loop.

Starting Monday, Sept. 22, construction crews will be working in the area of the future bridge. Construction is expected to take several weeks.

Bridge over Tucson Diversion ChannelA route will always be available, but it will be a rough dirt path near the construction work for a limited area between Interstate10 and Kino Parkway on the path.

Loop users are encouraged to use caution in the construction area and adhere to any construction signage.

Thank you for your patience while this work is under way.

The 2.7-mile connection between Alvernon Way and Kino Parkway is expected to be finished by November. It will complete the Julian Wash Greenway, a 14-mile, shared-use path between the Santa Cruz River segment of The Loop and Rita Road.

The project is funded by the Community Healthcare Benefit Foundation of Pima County, supported by Tucson Medical Center and Carondelet Health Network, and is a community effort to improve health and fitness outcomes in the region.
