  • Drones, emerging technologies to be subject of Oct. 10 Workforce Investment Board meeting

    The Pima County Workforce Investment Board will hear about drones, or unmanned aircraft or vehicle systems, and the emerging technologies industry sector at its monthly meeting on Friday, Oct. 10.

    A panel of experts will include:
    • Kelly Lawton, MBA-GM, Campus Director, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide, Tucson, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and Fort Huachuca.
    • Howard Phelps, Section Vice President, Defense Solutions Division, General Dynamics Information Technology, Sierra Vista.
    • Stephen W. Wilson, Hunter Deputy Program Manager, Northrop Grumman Technical Services, Sierra Vista.
    • Matt Pobloske, Chief Executive Officer, Sensintel (formerly BAE Systems), Tucson.


    The meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. in Rooms 109-112 at Pima Community College’s Community Campus, 401 N. Bonita Ave. It usually concludes by 9 a.m. and is open to the public.

    The Pima County Workforce Investment Board is appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to provide recommendations on local workforce policy and oversight of the Pima CountyOne-Stop Career Center. The board includes representatives of local businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions.

    One-Stop works with employers in local growth, high-demand industry occupations to address their current and future workforce needs.
