After 12 years, the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality’s “Air Info Now” website will be decommissioned at the end of January 2015, due to outdated technology. The Air Info Now website was one of the first of its kind in the nation to provide the public with near real-time air quality data.

“It was a completely new concept back then – to let the data go out to the public before the lengthy quality assurance tests had been run, but the department felt it was critical for truly protecting public health,” said Beth Gorman, PDEQ Senior Program Manager.

The majority of the information on the Air Info Now site is now available on the PDEQ website in the air monitoring section. In addition, the new system will have increased capabilities and more options for researching air quality data.

“You will be able to generate more extensive and detailed air quality data reports using additional graphics to display the information,” Gorman said. “Also, data reports can be produced for expansive lengths of time, as opposed to only one week at a time on the old Air Info Now site.”

Those searching for the Air Info Now site will be redirected to the new section on the PDEQ website beginning the last week of January.  If you have questions about how to find the information you seek, or would like a “tour” of the new air quality data webpages, please contact Beth Gorman of PDEQ at (520) 724-7446.
