  • Mexican baseball league teams begin play March 13 at Kino Stadium

    At a Feb. 17 press conference at Kino Memorial Stadium, officials will announce details of the Mexican Professional Baseball Spring Training schedule, which include two games against AAA-affiliates of Major League Baseball teams.

    Kino StadiumThe Pima County Stadium District and M1 Baseball, LLC, finalized a deal in mid-January to bring professional baseball to Kino Sports Complex this year. Four teams are scheduled to train in Tucson and play in a series of 12 exhibition games at Kino during March. Each organization is part of the LMB (Liga Mexicana De Beisbol), a triple-A class league of Mexico.  

    The press conference will feature Aaron Alcaraz from M1 Baseball, LLC, Felipe Garcia from Vamos A Tucson and representatives from Pima County and the Mexican Consulate.

    Coaches and players will report for training Feb. 26. Game one of the 12-game Spring Training series starts March 13. The LMB teams will be playing the AAA-affiliates of the Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs, on March 14 and 21, respectively.
