ROMP is a master plan to allow the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) to meet environmental regulatory requirements. RWRD is working to meet new environmental requirements mandated by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). ADEQ regulates our activities and the way we convey and treat the community's sewage.
PDEQ is authorized to review and approve plans for on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems in order to ensure they are designed in accordance with Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) Rules. This approval is called a "Construction Authorization."
The Conveyance Division manages the operation of the sanitary sewerage conveyance system of Pima County. Conveyance Division Field Operations provides for the administration, inspection, and cleaning of Pima County's public sanitary sewage conveyance systems.
The Treatment Division operates and maintains the treatment facilities that receive, treat, and dispose of over 64 million gallons of sanitary sewage per day (mgd). Two major facilities handle sewage from the metropolitan Tucson area, and six facilities serve remote areas scattered across the sanitary sewage system of eastern Pima County.
