    gloria barrett photoPima County Health Department Public Health Nurses Gloria Barrett and Daniel Lopez each have been selected by Tucson Nurse's Week Foundation as a 2015 Tucson Fabulous 50 Nurse.

    The awards are presented annually to Registered Nurses in Tucson who have been nominated by their peers for a commitment to improving patient care or enhancing nursing practices.

    Lopez and Barrett, along with the other nurses selected, will be nurse daniel lopezrecognized at the annual Tucson Nurse's Week Foundation Gala at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, on Saturday, May 9. There will be a ceremony recognizing all of the Fabulous 50 honorees, as well as the Most Inspirational Mentor Honoree and the recipient of the Alex Stuetze Memorial Award.

    Lopez has been employed with the Health Department since January 2012. He spends most of his time working at the Joel Valdez and Woods Library and is involved with many agencies that serve veterans and the homeless population. His dedication and hard work have helped to make the Library Public Health Nurse project a success.

    Barrett has been employed with Pima County Health Department since June 2012.  She started as a district manager and was promoted to nurse manager in 2013. Barrett has been active in improving services to children that have been neglected and/or abused and with families involved with the Family Drug Court. She serves on the College of Medicine, Rural Health Program board and is a member of the statewide Task Force on Preventing Prenatal Exposure to Alcohol and Other Drugs. She is involved in the PCHD accreditation team and many other groups and committees.

    Lopez and Barrett join a long list of current and previous Pima County Public Health Nurses who have been selected for the Fabulous 50 award.
