This project was designed in phases, but delivered as three
separate sub-projects: 4JLMID, 4JLRMP, and 4JLWST.
The project was a public/private partnership with external funding provided by the TMC/Carondelet Healthcare Foundation. This funding strategy greatly multiplies local funding opportunities, providing added benefits to the finished greenway project. The Foundation provided an additional $790,773 to the total cost of the new multi-use path.
Improvements included the construction of the 16’ multi-use pathway between Campbell and
Alvernon. This pathway was built on the tight corridor of the unprotected banks of the
Julian Wash and required several creative solutions to keep the bank as natural as possible while supporting the new pathway.
This was accomplished with the use of shotcrete, gravity retaining walls, regular retaining walls and header curbs.
A grand opening event was held November 1, 2014, and included a special health fair in participation with our foundation partners.
