Friends of the Pantano is partnering with Tucson Clean and Beautiful and other groups to clean up the Pantano River from Broadway Boulevard to 22nd Street this weekend.

Many varieties of javelina, coyotes, bobcats, cougars, birds and lizards have been seen in the river. Unfortunately, so have shopping carts, tires, mattresses and other trash.

The cleanup will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, starting at the Pantano River at Kenyon Drive. A map of the cleanup area and meeting place can be found here. For further information about the event, please visit Tucson Clean and Beautiful or call (520) 791-3109.

The Adopt-a-Park and Public Areas program was established in 1984 to address the growing problem of litter. Since that time, Tucson area volunteers have provided more than 300,000 volunteer service hours at hundreds of sites.
