Silverbell RoadPima County, Arizona (July 23) - The Pima County Department of Transportation, with the cooperation of the City of Tucson and the Town of Marana, will begin paving Silverbell Road from just north of Goret Road to Ina Road starting August 10. Work for this multi-jurisdictional project is being administered by Pima County and will be performed by Southern Arizona Paving.

This project includes an asphalt overlay, sealing and striping, of approximately 6.35 miles of Silverbell Road.

Because of the narrow width of the roadway, pilot vehicles and flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. Work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists can expect delays when traveling in the work area.

In preparation of this overlay, the Town of Marana recently installed a Stress Absorbing Membrane surface on Silverbell Road from Ina Road to Sunset Road. Pima County will perform an additional overlay on the segments previous done by the Town of Marana.

Staff encourages motorists to use caution and obey traffic controls within the work zone. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.
