Bats in flightPima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation is offering a bat viewing this Friday, Sept. 11, at the Campbell Avenue bridge along the Rillito River, beginning at sundown.

The event is free and open to all.

At “Nature Night: Bats in Flight,” bat enthusiasts can learn more about the fascinating lives of Mexican free-tailed bats and watch as hundreds of bats emerge from their daytime roosts under the Campbell Avenue Bridge over the Rillito River. Naturalists and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and family-friendly activities also will be offered.

Participants will gather at the Rillito River Park, 4200 N. Campbell Ave., located on the east side of Campbell, just south of the river. Park officials also will have bat T-shirts for sale for $15. For details, call 724-5220.
