The Pima County Department of Transportation, with the cooperation of the City of Tucson and the Town of Marana, completed a $1.2 million paving project on Silverbell Road from just north of Goret Road to Ina Road. Work for this multi-jurisdictional project was administered by Pima County and Southern Arizona Paving was the contractor.

This project included an asphalt overlay, sealing and striping, of approximately 6.35 miles of Silverbell Road.

Supervisor Sharon Bronson, Chair, Pima County Board of Supervisors commented on the cooperation of the three jurisdictions. “The joint efforts of the three jurisdictions assured the success and quality of this much need project.”

"This repaving project along a critical west side corridor was completed expeditiously to minimize the impact to the community." said Ward 1 Council Member Regina Romero. "It was excellent to see all the jurisdictions working together in this endeavor!"

The Town of Marana has stated they are pleased with the cooperation and collaboration of all three jurisdictions to achieve a final outcome that met the needs of the region. Not only does this project significantly improve the roadway conditions along Silverbell Road, but it prepares the road for additional traffic in advance of the Ina Road and Ruthrauff Road interchange projects. This kind of planning is critical to maintaining the region’s transportation infrastructure.
