  • Upcoming road closures for Peace Parade in Ajo

    The Pima County Department of Transportation would like to inform the public of an upcoming special event in Ajo, Arizona, the International Day of Peace Celebration. This event will cause temporary street closures and impact traffic on September 21, 2015.

    TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS FOR PARADE ROUTE
    Starting at 4:45 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015, sections of Ajo Well Road, SR 85 (a.k.a. Pizal Street, Taladro Street), La Mina Avenue, Fundicion Street, Lomita Avenue, Pizal Street and Plaza Street around the town plaza will be closed. 

    In addition, the following street crossings will also be closed and barricaded during the parade: Elota Avenue, Estrella Avenue, Vananda Avenue, Esperanza Avenue, Malacate Street, and Morondo Avenue. 

    The parade will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The streets will reopen at approximately 6:00 p.m. 

    The International Day of Peace Celebration is sponsored by the International Sonoran Desert Alliance. After the parade celebrations will continue on the town plaza until approximately 9:30 p.m.

    The Pima County Department of Transportation would like to thank the traveling public for its cooperation during these temporary closures and remind motorists to obey all traffic control signs and speed limits.
