TMYIt’s that time of year again! The annual Tucson Meet Yourself festival is Oct. 9 –Oct. 11 in Downtown Tucson. Pima County will have its own pavilion where the public can learn about a multitude of county departments.

The folks from Pima Animal Care Center, Natural Resources Parks and Recreation, the Loop and Libraries will all be on hand throughout the event. Representatives from Health, Environmental Equality, Office of Sustainability and Conservation and the Kino Sports Complex will rotate throughout. There will also be an activity stage with interactive demos and presentations corresponding with each focus area.
The Pima County Pavilion will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The public will be able to learn about a variety of native plants from NRPR staff, who will also be handing out Agave palmeri, Tecoma stans and Encelia farinosa seeds, otherwise known as Palmer’s agave, Yellowbells and Brittlebush.  There may even be planting demonstrations.

Pima County Public Library will have “Read to a Dog” on the stage along with a fun button-making activity.  Its table will have materials with highlights of the Seed Library, Idea+Space, Job Help, bookbike, and other upcoming events such as the Big Read. The library also will have a children’s craft activity and a social media photo booth with “I love my library” and the Big Read “Poe” signs and masks.

Staff members from the Department of Transportation’s Bicycle and Pedestrian division will be holding helmet fitting demonstrations at 1 p.m. each day and giving out 100 youth bike and skate helmets. At 2 p.m. on each day Bikes and Peds also will be teaching about safety and basic bike mechanics.
But wait, there’s more! We’ll also have several static displays to feature the Pima County Bond Project Map, progress on the new Pima Animal Care Facility and a Human Resources station for learning about employment opportunities at Pima County.

Tucson Meet Yourself will be held Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Downtown Tucson at the Old Pima County Courthouse, El Presidio Park and Pima County Library/Jacome Plaza.
