A lack of health insurance and healthcare literacy is a significant barrier to access adequate healthcare in Pima County. The Pima County Health Department has partnered with dozens of community partners to form the Pima County Enrollment Coalition in a concerted effort to reduce the number of uninsured.
Since October 2013, the uninsured rate in Pima County has dropped from 17% to 10% in large part due to the work of Pima County Enrollment Coalition, a group including local hospitals, community health centers, community advocates, volunteers, school districts and non-profit organizations.
Please join us in front of the historic courthouse at 115 N. Church on Monday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. as our community leaders help the coalition to promote the Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment period that begins Nov. 1 and ends Jan. 31, 2016.
Speakers will include:
- Jonathan Rothschild, Tucson Mayor
- Richard Elías, Pima County Supervisor
- Dr. Francisco García, Pima County Health Department Director
- Dr. Dan Derksen, University of Arizona Center for Rural Health Director
- Lea Marquez Peterson, President and CEO of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber
