In 2015, Pima County Regional Flood Control District (District) and local consultant CMG Drainage Engineering, Inc. completed an update to the Green Valley Drainageway Study. The goal of this update was to evaluate the condition of drainage ways in the Green Valley area. The study resulted in a list of drainage ways needing improvements.
Engineering plans for the needed improvements are now being completed. Pima County has contractors who will construct those improvements; however, prior to construction on any given project, the District must apply for and receive permits from the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE). As plans are completed and permits are approved, construction will be scheduled for these drainage ways.
The construction phase of the Green Valley Drainageway Improvement Projects began in late May 2016 with Drainageway #9 (see construction photos). The first project will be a series of concrete cut off walls and channel armoring along drainageway 9; these activities will decrease soil erosion in drainage ways.
Please see the Drainageway #9 project map for more information.
