In celebration of
World Breastfeeding Awareness Week, the
Pima County Health Department, in collaboration with the
Nurse Family Partnership, will host its 4th annual Healthy from the Start fair on Aug. 5 at the Abrams Public Health Center, 3950 S. Country Club Road.
This free public event is open to all who want more information on how to establish a “healthy start” for their children. This fair brings together community resources to assist families with children on a number of topics with emphasis on providing educational support to pregnant women and new moms interested in breastfeeding.
Experts in child development will highlight the importance of early childhood development and provide demonstrations to parents on easy play activities. They’ll also giveaway free children’s books, while supplies last.

Community organizations and various health programs will also be on site to provide educational materials on oral health, health insurance, birthing centers, and nutrition.
Also, for the first time ever, this fair will also include mini breakout sessions on relaxation techniques, nutrition for pregnant and breastfeeding mom, breastfeeding and the working mom, how to start a home garden and story time for children.
There will be plenty of fun, including lots of raffles and giveaways, and also some food trucks on site.
