The project included installation of solar powered flashing beacons at the Picture Rocks Road and Sandario Road intersection. Two flashing beacons were installed per approach on an overhead span wire running diagonally across the intersection. The intersection is an existing four-way stop with a history of stop sign running. In a 3 year study period there were 12 crashes at this intersection, 5 of which were at night. Most crashes were angle crashes. The flashing beacons were installed to improve driver awareness of the upcoming fourway stop and increase stop sign compliance.
