Catalina Community Services (CCS) is a non-profit resource center that includes a food bank, clothing bank and a seniors program for transporting clients to the doctor or the grocery store. Congregate and home delivered meals are provided for senior clients. Several outside agencies including youth and family counseling, English classes, caregiver support and health department clinics are provided as additional services. CCS has been operating from an old, state-owned 1,700 square foot facility located on nearby Golder Ranch Road. This new facility offers 5,000 square feet of floor space, plus an additional 1,700 square foot modular building. This additional square footage will allow CCS to expand their services to the people of Catalina. The new building will house the CCS administration, food bank, and outside service agencies including Pima Youth Partnership, Project PPEP, ESL classes, and a caregiver Support Group.
An exciting new service provided at this facility will be the Health Clinic which will be operated by the Pima County Health Department. Fully equipped with two exam rooms, two consultation rooms and a lab, Pima County Health Department will be poised to make an impact on the community by offering immunizations, general health screenings and family planning. The modular building will house the clothing bank operations, as well as accommodate conferences and after hours community meetings, seminars and classes. CCS has demonstrated their commitment to the community by raising $500,000 to help make this project a reality. They are in the process of raising more funds to replace the modular with a large multipurpose/ dining and kitchen facility.
