The project, located just west of C.E. Rose Elementary School on Columbia Street between 12th and 16th Avenues, sought to address safety concerns by replacing an older pedestrian bridge that crosses Rodeo Wash. The older bridge was over 30 years old; it was deteriorated, unsafe and did not meet ADA requirements. This project created a safer crossing for all users including pedestrians, strollers, bicycles and wheelchairs. The bridge improved the accessibility of the neighborhood, which connects to the aforementioned elementary school, Pueblo High School and Rudy Garcia Linear Park. This project has helped to build community by bringing together neighbors and area stakeholders to plan, design and implement this project.
