    We A.R.E. Pima County

Pima County is proud to offer its employees and departments various training to deliver a quality employee experience, develop employees as they advance and provide employees with skilled, knowledgeable and capable supervisors. Training is implemented and provided by the Human Resources Department’s Training and Development Unit. Offerings include the following:

New Employee Onboarding - Passport Program

An onboarding learning experience that takes newly hired employees on a journey through the Pima County Values (Accountable, Respectful, & Ethical) and Culture providing information and resources they’ll use to succeed in Pima County employment.

All employees newly appointed to permanent part-time or full-time positions attend a Passport session with a cohort of employees from various Pima County Departments.  The Passport Program offers this in an innovative, interactive, memorable and informative way.  It’s called the Passport Program because employees are taken on an adventure not unlike international travel through various ports-of-call, collecting stamps in their passport booklet as they continue on their way.

    Fundamentals in Supervision (FiS)

A curriculum where newly hired and newly promoted supervisors learn Pima County’s approaches to key concepts needed when leading and  supervising their team members.

During this curriculum, supervisors will learn about Pima County Rules, Policies, and Procedures that are important for supervisors to know to best support their teams. Also covered are topics like Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA), performance management and progressive discipline.
