dog walkPima Animal Care Center invites the public to volunteer for its Labor Day dog walk on Sept. 5 to help homeless dogs get the exercise and playtime they need.

Anyone over the age of 15 can sign-up to walk and socialize PACC’s shelter dogs. Even children between the ages of 10 and 14 can partake, provided they have an accompanying parent or guardian during the walk.

Interested dog walkers must register online at PACC’s volunteer webpage by Wednesday, Aug. 31. The registration period will end once PACC has 150 participants.

The dog walk starts 7 a.m. at the Pima Animal Care Center, 4000 N. Silverbell Road. Visitors should arrive by 6:30 a.m. and check in with a volunteer at the registration table beforehand to complete a waiver. Due to the construction site of PACC’s new facility, staff encourages folks to park anywhere they can, including the adjacent Christopher Columbus Park. The walk will conclude by 9 a.m.

For more information on this and other volunteer opportunities at the shelter, visit PACC’s website.

Those who happen to find the perfect pet during the walk can return to adopt on Tuesday, Sept. 6. PACC will remain closed for all other services during the holiday.
