  • Mexican baseball fever returns to Kino Sports Complex Sept. 29

    mexican baseballCatch the excitement of Mexican baseball at Kino Sports Complex Sept. 29 – Oct. 2 with the return of the Mexican Baseball Fiesta starring five professional teams of the Mexican Pacific League.

    The participating teams in this year’s fiesta include the Naranjeros de Hermosillo, Yaquis de Obregón, Águilas de Mexicali, Tomateros de Culiacán, Cañeros de Los Mochis and the Kansas City Royals Future Stars, a prospect team of the major league organization. 

    All games will take place at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2500 E. Ajo Way, which offers plenty of free parking. Stadium gates open one hour before the first game. General admission tickets on sale now in person and online. Tickets prices range from $9 for adults to $6 for children between the ages of 6-16. Box seats cost $15. There’s also special discounted tickets offered at the Kino Box Office, 2500 E. Ajo Way, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, for seniors, military, and college students with valid ID. 

    Mexican Baseball Fiesta logoThis year, the Mexican Baseball Fiesta also has two promotion nights. On Sept. 30, kids get free admission tickets at any Tucson eegee’s location for eegee’s Kids Night. For the Oct. 2 game, Vantage West Credit Union will offer family vouchers at all its Tucson branches for Vantage West Family Night. The voucher includes eight general admission tickets for only $10. Guests must present their voucher at the Kino Box Office to get the discounted tickets. Tickets and vouchers are subject to availability. 

    The Fiesta includes doubleheader games and plenty of entertainment for the family each night. Visitors can expect music playing during the games, mascots on the field, fans dancing on the stands, live music between games and delicious Mexican food, including tacos, tortas and food at the Mexican Baseball FiestaSonoran hot dogs. Also, in keeping with the Kino Sports Complex Thirsty Thursday tradition, on Sept. 29 the stadium will sell $1 beers throughout the first game. 

    During the Fiesta, Kino Sports Complex will enforce its clear bag policy. Approved items include diaper bags, one-gallon freezer bags, clutch purses no larger than 4.5” x 5” and clear tote bags no larger than 12”x 6”x 12”. Stadium staff will check all bags upon entry.
