About
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a summer opportunity for youth ages 14-21 who are interested in learning new skills, working in intern positions throughout Pima County and attending summer school to help youth advance in secondary education. This program is administered by Pima County Community & Workforce Development and is available during the summer months.
***COVID 19 UPDATE - Summer Youth Employment Program 2021***
Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our young people, providers and worksites, Pima County Community and Workforce Development has made the very difficult decision not to operate the Summer Youth Employment Program this year.
Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty of how COVID 19 will continue to effect social distancing guidelines, worksite availability, and provider and site staffing as we head into summer makes it difficult to ensure that SYEP can be operated safely and efficiently.
Please know that we considered many ways to keep this year's summer employment program operational but concluded it was not possible to operate the program when the health and safety of our participants and employers are concerned.
We look forward to continue to offer youth employment and educational services.
Please know Pima County Youth Center is open and ready to assist with employment, training and educational services.
You can do it!
Getting ready for work, college and life can be complicated, but getting help should be simple. One call does it all: we can help you make a career plan, set long term goals, build a strong support system, gain work experience, develop your skill set, figure out what to do next summer, figure out how to pay for college, increase your self-confidence, make better choices, & more.
To apply
Look for the Summer Youth Application online and on paper at many locations (such as high schools and community centers) throughout Pima County during the beginning of the year for an opportunity to apply for summer programs.
Although we cannot recommend or endorse specific programs, we encourage you to research and take advantage of the many summer programs for youth and teens offered by local public entities, not profit and community-based organizations
