Veterans Job Fair set for Nov. 2

All military, active duty, veterans, reservists, guard, their spouses and dependents can find out about employment opportunities throughout Southern Arizona at a free job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, outside Pima County’s Kino Veterans’ Workforce Center, 2801 E. Ajo Way.

Vets job fairThe job fair is a partnership of Arizona@Work-Pima County; Pima County’s Community Services, Employment and Training Department; the Arizona Department of Economic Security; and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

More than 50 employers will gather under the solar panels in the parking lot of Vets’ Center. They represent industries such as aviation technology, aerospace and defense, manufacturing, transportation, logistics, supply chain management, information technology, energy, mining, construction, biotechnology, health sciences and medical.

More than 50 employers are taking part. They include: The Kino Veterans’ Workforce Center, part of Pima County’s Community Services, Employment and Training Department, offers career counseling and job search assistance; help with resumes, interview and phone techniques; skill and aptitude assessments; computer labs and office equipment; behavioral health services and recovery; occupational skills training; adult education, tutoring and study skills; benefits counseling and claims assistance – education, medical care, disability; assistance with housing and other basic needs during transition to employment; and business recruitment and workforce training assistance.

Veterans may also attend regularly scheduled networking and job club events at the Kino Veterans’ Workforce Center, 2801 E. Ajo Way. They can speak directly with employers and hiring managers, learn about career and job opportunities and apply for open positions.
