  • DOT performs pavement preservation work on Avra Valley Road

    construction workStarting Thursday, Nov. 3, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., the Pima County Department of Transportation, along with its contractor, Southern Arizona Paving, will mill, pave and stripe Avra Valley Road from I-10 to Airline Road.

    Work will continue through mid-December. Below find DOT's anticipated work schedule:

    Thursday, Nov. 3 through Wednesday, Nov. 30:
    Between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. the contractor will prepare the roadway by clearing, locating utilities, grading and milling.

    Thursday, Dec. 1 through Tuesday, Dec. 20:
    Between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., the contractor will pave the roadway and make temporary pavement markings. Final (thermal) striping will take place on Dec. 19 and 20, once the asphalt has cured.

    During the construction period, DOT will have flaggers and a pilot car to assist with traffic through the work zone. Minor traffic delays may occur during this time.

    The construction schedule may change in the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather.
