Adopt, Don't ShopPima Animal Care Center (PACC) will host its “Don't Shop, Adopt” celebration Nov. 12 at the Tucson Spectrum PetSmart store, 1175 W. Irvington Road, as part of PetSmart Charities® National Adoption Weekend, November 11 – 13.

The adoption party runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with adoption fees waived for all pets, including puppies and kittens, and plenty of fun for the entire family. PACC’s furry cats and kittens will, without doubt, highlight this event, but there will also be community vendors, food trucks, and activities for the kids, such as inflatables and face painting courtesy of event media sponsors, Azteca America Tucson, KZLZ La Poderosa, and Arizona Bilingual Newspaper.

Due to a recent outbreak of canine-related illness at the shelter, PACC will only take cats and kittens to this event. However, PACC staff will work with regional shelters to bring their healthy and unexposed dogs for adoption.

In addition to the “Don’t Shop, Adopt” celebration on Nov. 12, PACC will have cats ready for adoption all weekend at its five offsite PetSmart stores. PACC’s event and its weekend-long specials were made possible by a $4,000 grant from PetSmart Charities.

All pets adopted from PACC come spayed or neutered, with age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and a free vet visit, too. A standard $17 dog licensing fee will apply to all adult dogs.

“We encourage our community to come out and adopt to make this our most successful adoption party yet,” said Justin Gallick, PACC’s director of community engagement. “We have hundreds of cats who need a new loving home.”

During National Adoption Weekend, PACC hopes to adopt out at least 75 pets from all five offsite PetSmart locations.

We hope you don't miss the Nov. 12 event at PetSmart. In case you can't make it, the adoption special will be honored at these offsite PetSmart locations during regular business hours, all weekend-long:

    PetSmart at Oracle & Wetmore
    PetSmart at Grant & Swan
PetSmart at El Con Mall, between Home Depot and Target
PetSmart at River & Orange Grove
    PetSmart at Irvington & I-19

Visit the PACC webpage to see all the adoptable pets and learn more about the shelter.
