Loop repair at Sunset RoadOn Wednesday, Nov. 16, the Pima County Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Authority, and their contractor, Borderland Construction began removing the pavement along The Loop at Sunset Road and I-10. This work is part of the Sunset Road: Silverbell Road to I-10 Improvement Project.

Transportation workers will install a temporary dirt detour pathway for Loop users while they remove existing asphalt and re-compact the subgrade at Sunset Road and the I-10 Frontage Road. This temporary pathway will remain in place for approximately three weeks, which is the expected duration to complete this work. Once finished, crews will repave and reopen The Loop.

Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone when construction equipment is in the area. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Bicyclists may expect minor delays and should stop at the temporary stop signs while construction vehicles are in the area.

This construction schedule may change in the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather.
