  • HUD lauds County Community Development efforts

    An annual performance assessment of Pima County’s federally funded community development programs has lauded the County for presiding over improvements to public housing and facilities. 

    Tylutki“Through the leadership of Margaret Kish, Director, Community Development and Neighborhood Conservation, Daniel Tylutki, Program Manager, Community and Rural Development and staff, Pima County has made significant strides in housing rehabilitation, public services and public facility improvements,” the U.S. Department Housing and Urban Development Annual Performance Assessment from December notes. 

    KishPima County receives Community Development Block Grant, Emergency Solutions Grant and HOME funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Combined, the County received more than $2.8 million from HUD for program year 2015. 

    The annual report notes Pima County used the federal funding to complete 204 emergency home repairs, help 55 people through a home-buyer assistance program, construct 24 new rental units and assist 130 people through homeless prevention activities. 

    “Pima County staff has also demonstrated their ability to implement the County’s CDBG program in accordance with federal guidelines and meet its CDBG and ESG timeliness requirements,” the report reads.
