Clerk of the Board Brigode retires

In 1991, Clerk of the Board Robin Brigode worked her first meeting for Pima County.

Now, after 25 years with the office, Brigode has retired.

“I couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling career than the one I had the opportunity to experience at Pima County,” she said.

Brigode’s final day on the job was Friday, Jan. 6.

Originally hired as liaison to the now defunct Board of Equalization, Brigode has worked countless County meetings and has been a first-hand witness to the decisions and policies that have shaped the region.

Brigode“Having been part of the growth and evolution that has taken place over the past 25 years has been phenomenal,” Brigode said.

Unlike other department heads, the Board appoints the clerk directly. Brigode was appointed clerk in Sept. 2011 after having served as deputy clerk for 14 years.

“This is a process and rules office,” in Brigode’s description, and an office typically apart from of the politics of the Board it serves, “that’s not our role.”

“The Clerk’s Office is small but mighty. I attribute the accomplishments of this office to having had the support and confidence of the Board of Supervisors, enjoying a dedicated, knowledgeable and hard-working staff and the shared expertise and talent of so many wonderful individuals across all county departments,” Brigode said.

The Board of Supervisors appointed Julie Castañeda to replace Brigode at the Jan. 3 meeting.

Brigode offered a bit of parting wisdom for Castañeda.

“Forge good relationships throughout the County,” she said. “And be fair and equal in all your interactions.”
