On Friday, Jan. 6 at about 10 a.m., Pima Animal Care Center responded to a call near 8800 E. Broadway Boulevard regarding a deceased dog that had been badly abused.

PACC officials recovered the dog and took him back to the shelter for further examination by medical staff. At this time, his cause of death remains unknown. However, his body has been sent for necropsy and the matter is being investigated collaboratively by PACC officials and Tucson Police Department.

Due to the condition in which the dog was found, PACC officials are treating his death as a matter of animal cruelty.

“We’re actively working with TPD to bring justice to this poor dog,” said José Ocaño, PACC’s director of operations. “This cruelty case is devastating to our community and we won’t rest until justice is served.”

If you have any tips or information regarding this dog’s death, please contact the 88-CRIME hotline at (520) 882-7463.
