Since map tips, what we see, double-clicking, and traditional MapGuide reports can't be used to get information for overlapping map features in one map layer, we use special reports designed specifically for layers with overlaps.
The basic technique for reporting on overlapping layer map features is similar to regular MapGuide reports, yet has important distictions.
- Select map features in the area of interest using one of the "select by area" MapGuide selection methods. Do not click or shift-click on individual map features as this selects only the "top" map features in the layer and there could be other layer map features "underneath".
- Choose a report from the "Map Tools & Map Info." drop-down list in the title frame at the top of the map rather than the MapGuide View Reports tool or the right-click menu. The reports in the drop-down list have added function you'll need to match lines on the report to corresponding map features.
