In order to build a Family Medicine and Diabetes Clinic in the Herbert K. Abrams Building, the Pima County Health Department was moved from the first floor to the second, to allow the proposed clinics to occupy the first floor. Divisions of the Health department requiring high public access, such as W.I.C. were left on the first floor and share the same lobby/waiting room with Vital Records.
To minimize cost, the Health Department’s existing furniture, phones, computers and filing systems were moved to the second floor through a very carefully detailed phasing plan. The phased move allowed the Health Department to remain operational at all times.
