The new GI Suite was designed and built to provide more adequate GI procedure space within the University of Arizona Medical Center South Campus operated by University of Arizona Health Network (UAHN). This suite will accommodate primarily outpatient procedures, but will have occasional inpatient use.
Surplus bond funds from the Behavioral Health Pavilion were used to build this suite on the ground floor of the main hospital building in space previously occupied by Physical Therapy.
This GI Suite consists of approximately 4,350 square feet and provides three state of the art procedure rooms (pictured above); nine prep/recovery beds; reception; patient consult room; patient lockers; staff office; scope processing room; nurse station/medication area; staff lounge/toilet; and auxiliary rooms such as soiled utility, clean storage and housekeeping.
The project scope also included converting the existing chapel space into a combined GI/Surgery waiting room, furniture, scope cabinets, ice machine and the upgrading of the medical gas system. UAHN provided the remainder of medical equipment.
