Pima County acquired 1,416 acres of State Trust land located adjacent to the County’s Tortolita Mountain Park. The County was awarded over $1.8 million in matching funds from the Arizona State Parks Growing Smarter Grant Program for acquisition of this property. This acquisition will expand upon the Tortolita Mountain Park complex, with a primary focus on conservation of the natural and cultural resources present. The property will also be managed for passive public recreation and educational opportunities. Tortolita Mountain Park serves as the principal natural open space park for the northwest region of the Tucson Basin. This acquisition will further expand this important community asset.
