Baseball season returns to
Kino Sports Complex May 25 as the reigning Pecos League Champions – the
Tucson Saguaros – star in a three-game opening series against
new opponent, the Hollywood
All Stars.
After claiming the
Pecos League Championship in 2016, the Saguaros have an exciting season in store
with new players and new opponents. The team, now in its second season, will play in the league’s Pacific division, which includes the following five new teams from California:
Hollywood All Stars,
Monterey Amberjacks,
California City Whiptails,
High Desert Yardbirds, and
Bakersfield Train Robbers.
“We’re excited to be back in Tucson and looking forward to visiting in new cities,” said Andrew Dunn, Director of the Tucson Saguaros.”
The opening game of the season will take place Thursday, May 25 at the Saguaros’ home field, Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2500 E. Ajo Way. The game starts at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Members of the public can purchase their general admission tickets starting at $7.50 on the
Tucson Saguaros website or at the Kino Stadium Box Office, 2500 E. Ajo Way, starting at 4 p.m. on game days. Seniors and military personnel can get $6 discounted tickets with a valid ID and kids, 5 and under, pay no admission fee.
On opening day, and through the end of the Tucson Saguaros season, Kino Stadium will offer its “Thirsty Thursday” drink special, with $1 beers and sodas, in addition to plenty of concession items. As always, the Stadium will also offer free visitor parking.
The Pecos League is an independent professional baseball league with teams in New Mexico, Kansas, West Texas, Southern Colorado, Arizona and just recently also California. The Tucson Saguaros joined the League in 2016.
“More people know who we are now. We’re going to have a great year,” Dunn said.
The Tucson Saguaros will play all home games at Kino’s Veterans Memorial Stadium through July 29.
