  • ECAP program lauded for charitable givings

On May 25 Pima County’s Employee Combined Appeal Program (ECAP) was recognized for its work to benefit local charitable organizations at the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona's Circle of Excellence luncheon. The ECAPannual event honors the agency’s community partners and benefactors for their efforts to build a better community.

The 2016 ECAP campaign raised $356,439 for more than 200 between September 15 and December 9. That sum helped ECAP, along with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), qualify as a finalist for one of the event’s most prestigious honors, the United Way Partnership Award.

Unfortunately ECAP did not win the Partnership Award but did receive a Circle of Excellence citation.

Members of the ECAP Steering Committee attended the gathering, including Chair Barbara Denny, Co-Vice Chairs Ray Velez and Ana Guerrero, Secretary Margo Chavez and Bonnie Bazata, Johnny Romero and Charlotte Watts.
